I found this better than on the deck training, because if you can wrap your brain around the philisophical elements of the game (ie. Advantage) then the deck work becomes less stressful and more enjoyable when ones confidence in their ability to accurately call the game (in the purest sense of the rules) is enhanced."

"After a number of years wishing that the referee training was more consistent from trainer to trainer, this course seems to be right on in terms of disseminating information and minimizing the differences in how referees call the game. It will be interesting to see the effect these classes have on us, and there will certainly be starts and stops in getting better, but I feel I am beginning to understand my obligations much better than at any previous time. I have printed out all of the comments and threads and intend to go through them and cull out Loren's comments, the others whose comments he praised, and still others whose comments he criticized.
I have been telling friends and family for years how the various nuances of the game have fascinated and frustrated me at the same time. Hopefully my frustration level, of knowing I make mistakes and not always being able to understand why, will "lessen with the lessons."
The cost of the three courses I am taking is a great bargain considering what I am getting our of them.

I've been involved in teaching well over a hundred continuing education courses, and for me, your courses have been a revelation.

While referees need to attend courses at Water Polo Academy in order to achieve certain levels, I think it would be in everyone’s best interests to take some of the classes offered. " As a player, these classes were a real eye opener for me. It is so different from what we see from officiating now that now I understand why the US is inconsistent. If you have any doubts about what they teach you, watch the DVD’s of the world championships game that Loren sends you and you can see that the best teams in the world get referees just like this with the same calls we learn in class. "I want you to know that I printed all your lessons, the rules and our powerpoint animations and put them into a 3 ring binder. Your ppt is especially helpful. Also I appreciate the discussion threads, your comments and especially comments for new ref's and ref's who have not played water polo (like me). I am going to save the discussion threads onto my hard drive so I can read them again later. I found out that i learned a lot from you (as expected) and I also learned from the others on the bullentin board. I am going to take the minors and major fouls class online and do some observations and talk to the veteran ref's. Water polo is a challenging sport! I just want you to know that your course (Beginner Referee) is extremely helpful to a novice like me."
