Simone La Pay is a licensed counselor in California and a consultant is Sports Psychology Education. She has a Master’s Degree in counseling and is finishing a second Master’s Degree in Education. She has taught at Portland State University, California State University Long Beach and California State University East Bay.
She has acted as a consultant in Applied Sports Psychology Education for University of Arizona Women’s Club Water Polo, De Anza Community College Water Polo, and Golden Gate Fencing Center.
She has been playing water polo for 40 years and played on the USA Women’s National Team for ten years. She was an all-American swimmer and now competes nationally in Fencing. Simone has also been refereeing for the past twenty years. She recently began refereeing Epee fencing at local fencing tournaments. She thinks that refereeing is one of the most challenging and difficult career professions anyone can pursue. Simone is here to support all your refereeing efforts. She is not an evaluator or an assignor. She is here to keep you motivated to pursue refereeing.
Simone says:
I have seen really good beginner referees drop out after one season or even in the middle of their first season. It’s hard to referee because it’s full of conflict and pressure. But in the long run, mastering the art of refereeing is one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime.
Simone lives in Northern California where she works for United Health Group. She competes in Master’s Water Polo and Epee Fencing. In her spare time, she enjoys surfing and her border collie, Roxanne. |
