REFEREE CERTIFICATION

All USA Water Polo events operate under FINA rules.

Water Polo Academy instruction is live, instructor lead FINA instruction with up to date FINA interpretations and training materials. 

For parents or spectators who want to learn more about the game and how the rules are correctly applied, we recommend taking Intro to Refereeing. 

All classes are available to be audited by coaches at no charge by contacting us at gouldjm@yahoo.com. 

Class requirements for USA Water Polo referee certification in Water Polo Academy are as follows:

Level 1 Rookie Provisional Certification:  (no referee experience) Intro to Refereeing

Level 1 Full Certification:  Minor Fouls and Major Fouls

Returning Referees who have already taken Minor Fouls and Major Fouls:  Advanced Principles of the Advantage Rule or Advanced Refereeing the Center Positions 

Note: You must take Advantage before taking the Center. Only 1 class per year is required for returning referees.
